We renovated an old barn in the early part of 2008 and have created an interesting space with a mixture of textures, colour and light. It is markedly different from our other cottages being a blend of modern minimalist in an old structure with some revealed stone walls and original roof beams. The huge roof-light lets plenty of natural light into the large main space which serves as the sitting, dining and kitchen areas. We have added remotely controlled blinds to reduce heat gain in summer and to exclude the early morning sunshine for those in the twin bedroom. Under-floor heating throughout the Barn makes for a comfortable, uncluttered space. At the south end of the Barn is a large bathroom with bath and separate shower, toilet and basin. Next to it is a room which doubles as a study or occasional single room. Up the walnut stairs is a twin mezzanine bedroom looking out across the beams.
At the far end of the Barn is a comfortable sitting room with the second flat screen tv and DVD player. The woodburning stove makes for a cozy atmosphere. The bed area hangs over the sitting room and is accessed up the elegant walnut and glass stairs. Through a doorway and overlooking the main space is a dressing room and the tall slit window. The blue wet-room with shower and the utility room complete the accommodation. A garden area accessed through the sitting room offers afternoon sun and a barbeque. Infront of the Barn is a large private pebble garden with an additional sitting area
Parking can be in the yard by the Barn. You will be living next door to a working farm so you may be aware of the arable and beef farming cycles. We have already attracted a variety of tits and goldfinches close to the Barn. Most of the time you will be welcome to use our large garden and we have a trampoline, paddock area and woodland area further north of the Barn.
The style and furnishings are of high quality and modern finishes. Although we meet building regulations for the stairs and the walls around the bedrooms, you may wish to look at the photos and consider whether all members of your party will be reliably safe.
The Barn appeals to those who enjoy minimalist clean lines, more Grand Design than cozy cottage, it adds to the experience of a memorable visit to Ryedale.

We will meet you on arrival, show you to your cottage and introduce you to the waiting homemade cream tea. Enjoy your welcome grocery hamper to get you started; you will find homemade bread, butter, milk, eggs, homemade marmalade, local dry cured bacon and sausages. Put your feet up and relax with the complimentary bottle of wine.

We can offer advice and information and help sort problems. We can try to sort out any special requirements before you arrive, for example flowers, chocolates and champagne for a special occasion. We are on hand to help you order a delivery from our excellent local farm shop which specialises in locally sourced produce.
We offer festive decoration at Christmas unless you wish to Bah Humbug the Season. We are also happy to leave you completely alone if you prefer.
