In the early part of 2008, we restored an old barn creating an interesting contemporary holiday home with a mixture of textures, colour and light. It really is our ‘Grand Design’, with rustic architecture sitting comfortably with a contemporary but cosy style. Added to this there are two splendid, professionally designed gardens. One an Italian styled pebble courtyard full of structural plants and shapes with large wooden seated area for family meals, the other is a hidden gem for a romantic evening with champagne catching the evening sun.
The Barn is markedly different from our other cottages being a professionally designed contemporary interior, whilst retaining the character of the original farm barn, with revealed stone walls and original barn roof trusses. The huge patio doors and roof-lights let plenty of natural light into the large main space with fully equipped kitchen, large dining table for entertaining and comfortable sofa area, with flat screen TV. We have added remotely controlled blinds to reduce heat gain in summer and to exclude the early morning sunshine for those in the twin bedroom.
For more intimate moments, there is a snug, cosy sitting room, with a second flat screen TV and DVD player. The wood burning stove makes for a relaxed atmosphere in which to unwind on a winters evening. A splendid sleeping area, with separate dressing area on a mezzanine floor, is accessed up the elegant glass and walnut stairs. The blue wet-room with central power shower and the utility room complete this part of the Barn’s accommodation.
At the south of the Barn, accessed by a separate walnut stairs is the sumptuous twin mezzanine bedroom looking out across original barn beams. The twin beds will convert into a huge double bed on request. Below is a magnificent bathroom with a deep bath and separate power shower, toilet and basin. Next to it is a room, which doubles as a study, or it can be converted to a single bedroom and is suitable for less-able guests. Underfloor heating throughout the Barn makes for a comfortable, uncluttered space.
Parking is in the yard by the entrance to the Barn. This cottage is next door to a working farm so you may be aware of the arable and beef farming cycles. The garden attracts a variety of birds including tits and goldfinches close to the Barn. For you also to enjoy, are the Hall’s grounds with its mature trees, wonderful structures, trampoline, paddock and woodland area.
The style and furnishings are of high quality and modern finishes. The ‘Grand Design’ of the Barn meets building regulations for the stairs and mezzanine bedrooms; you may wish to look at the photos and consider whether younger members of your party would be appropriate to use them.

The spaces work well as the main meeting point for a family gathering or for a group of friends who want to take more than one cottage. The dining table extends to seat 10 comfortably and there are two comfortable sitting areas and a spacious garden to spread into.

We welcome you on arrival, show you to your cottage and help settle you in to your luxury surroundings with your freshly homemade cream tea. To get you started; you will find homemade bread, butter, milk, eggs, jam, locally sourced dry-cured bacon and sausages. Put your feet up and relax with a complimentary bottle of wine and for you and the children a welcome chocolate treat!
Should you need it we can offer advice and information and help sort problems. We can assist with any special requirements before you arrive, for example flowers, chocolates and champagne for a special occasion. We are on hand to help you order a delivery from our excellent local farm shop that specialises in locally sourced produce.
We offer festive decoration at Christmas unless you wish to Bah Humbug the Season. We are also happy to leave you completely alone if you prefer.
